Each time John Bennett talks with a perspective client, he treats the conversation as a “Service Call.” Our new Senior Vice President of Nonprofit Banking and Business Development believes in earning relationships through hard work and exceptional customer service.
For the past 40 years, John has been laser-focused on community improvement. While working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from the College of St. Thomas – John discovered Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity, and became a dedicated community servant, especially when it came to serving nonprofits.
“These people and organizations are challenged to run successful businesses with increased administrative burden and considerably less resources, such as time, money and staff. And yet, they see the world differently tackling society’s biggest issues with determination and enthusiasm. They define their lives in many cases by a single mission all with the idea of making a difference in the lives of others. Now that takes a special person,” he said.
He started his career in banking right out of college. Today, he continues his mission at 21st Century Bank by supporting local organizations and businesses in St. Paul and its suburbs. He brings expert knowledge and insight to our team, with enthusiasm for building networks and relationships with clients and the community. In 2018 alone, John attended more than 140 nonprofit events and fundraisers serving at-risk individuals and under-served populations. John credits his success to the fact that he is genuinely interested and concerned about the success of his clients and the people they serve.
John decided to join the 21st Century team to work at one of the “last community banks” in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
