As senior vice president of lending for 21st Century Bank’s residential development and home building division, Phil Hocking provided leadership to specialized lenders who partner with customers to provide construction and residential development financing.
In this role, Phil serves builders and developers throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul area with the entire lending process, from approval to closing. He also funds loan originations and provides construction draw management. With the build-out of his highly trained team, “We’re a resource for our clients,” said Phil. “And here at 21st Century Bank, we’re in this for the long run, not just to ride this latest real estate peak out then get out of the business. This is a long-term strategy for us.”
Following his graduation from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2003, Phil jumped straight into the financial industry and has not deviated since. With over 10+ years of experience, Phil has gained a wealth of knowledge about construction financing and the lending process for builders and developers.
From early on, Phil said he was drawn to financing projects related to construction. “Growing up, my father was a carpenter as a hobby. I picked up on that past time as well, building furniture and woodworking,” he said. Ultimately, Phil chose to join the team at 21st Century Bank because of our new approach – giving extra attention to this niche and taking on a much-needed role within the construction industry.
