If something feels urgent, the section below has the steps and contacts you need right now.
Think you've been targeted? Here's what to do.
If you suspect your account has been compromised or your identity stolen, time matters. Follow these steps immediately.
Step 1
Secure your 21st Century Bank account
Call our team directly during business hours at 763-767-21ST.
For a lost or stolen debit card after hours, call 1-800-472-3272.
You can also freeze your debit card instantly through the 21st Century Bank mobile app.
Step 2
Protect your identity
Contact any one of the three major credit bureaus to place a free fraud alert on your credit file. They’re required to notify the other two.
Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
Experian: 1-888-397-3742
TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289
Then visit IdentityTheft.gov, the FTC’s official recovery portal, for a personalized step-by-step recovery plan.
Step 3
Update your digital security
Change your online banking password and any email passwords connected to your financial accounts.
If you haven’t already, enable multi-factor authentication on all financial apps to add an extra layer of protection.
Step 4
Report suspected elder financial exploitation
If you believe a senior is being targeted or pressured into unauthorized transactions, contact the National Elder Fraud Hotline at 1-833-372-8311 or reach out to Minnesota Adult Protective Services.
You can also find additional elder resources further down this page.

Minnesota scam victims may have additional recovery options
If you or a family member has experienced a financial loss due to a scam or fraud, the State of Minnesota may have resources available to help. Minnesota established a Consumer Fraud Restitution Fund to assist eligible victims, administered by the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.Â
- Contact your financial institution immediately
- Report the incident to local law enforcement
- File a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office
- Preserve all documentation — account records, emails, texts, receipts, and evidence of loss
For more information, visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety crime victim resources page →Â
Eligibility and any reimbursement decisions are determined by the State of Minnesota. 21st Century Bank does not administer the fund and cannot guarantee reimbursement.
Protect Your Money
Fraud and financial scams are more sophisticated than ever. Knowing what to watch for — and where to turn — is one of the best defenses you have.
ATM & Debit Card Safety
Skimming devices on ATMs and payment terminals can capture your card information without your knowledge. Always cover the keypad when entering your PIN, and review your statements regularly for unfamiliar charges.
Telephone & Text Spoofing
Scammers can make calls and texts appear to come from your bank, the government, or even a family member. If something feels off, hang up and call the number on the back of your card or on our website.Â
Digital Platform Account Takeover
Criminals gain access to your accounts by stealing login credentials, often through phishing links or data breaches. Never click on unsolicited links asking you to verify account information.Â
Cell Phone & Text Message Caller ID Spoofing
Fraudsters can disguise their identity using your contacts’ real phone numbers. When in doubt, verify directly.Â

Stay Cyber Safe
Online threats don’t stand still. Each year, scammers find new ways to use technology against consumers. Here’s what’s most important to know right now.
2026 Threats to Know
Voice Cloning
With as little as three seconds of audio, scammers can recreate a loved one’s voice. Hang up and call back directly. Consider a family safe word.
QR Code Scams (quishing)
Fake QR codes are placed over real ones on parking meters, menus, and public signage. Only scan codes inside secure, verified apps.
AI-Generated Phishing
Scam emails today are polished and personalized. The typo rule no longer applies. When in doubt, don’t click — go directly to the source.
Deepfake Video Calls
Even video calls can be faked. If anyone contacts you urgently requesting a transfer, hang up and call us at the number on the back of your card.
